ABOUT US
Little Birdie Theatre Company was founded by longtime friends and collaborators Zachary Cohn and Thomas Grant in 2025 as a home for emerging theatre makers.
Co-founders
Thomas Grant, Artistic Director
Thomas is a Director, Sound Designer and Theater Maker in the greater Boston area. He believes directing and designing is all about creating a central idea, thesis, or concept, and then facilitating a shared working environment towards that goal. He is a graduate from Tufts University in Somerville Massachusetts.

Zachary Cohn, Executive Director
Zachary is a lighting and video designer working professionally across the country. His work explores the intersection of technology and the arts to find new ways of telling stories on stage. He is also a software engineer and holds a degree in Drama from Washington University in St. Louis.

Our Team
Ellen Schaaf, Development Officer
Ellen is a Director, Theater Maker, and economic strategy enthusiast currently based in St. Louis, Missouri. She is inspired by nonlinear narratives, and her work explores using the codes and constructs of digital media to create theatre that assists the creation of embodied community. She holds an MA in Theater and Performance Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a BA in theater and economics from Lehigh University.
Julia Parham, Development Officer
Julia is a former carpenter and production manager based in the Boston area. Now working as an Assistant Case Manager for Communities for Restorative Justice, she brings experience from the non-profit world to Little Birdie Theatre. Julia believes that collaborative theater is a transformative force that brings communities together. She holds a BA in Politics and Psychology from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and has been involved with theater in many capacities for the past eight years.
Matt Torres, Operations Manager
Matt Torres is a Music Director, Conductor, Multi-instrumentalist, and Audio Engineer with roots in the greater Boston area. He enjoys fostering genuine human connections through the universal language of music. He holds a degree in Computer Science and Music from Tufts University, and currently works as a software engineer and business analyst supporting sustainability initiatives in higher education.
Sophie Sommers, Social Media and Communications Director
Sophie is a third-year at Tufts University studying Theater and Psychology. She is a proud Bostonian originally from Lexington, MA. With experience in acting, design, photography, marketing communications, and more, Sophie truly loves the theater-making process every step of the way.
